BTS continues to raise the bar for South Korean musical acts with the reveal of Billboard’s most recent Hot 100 chart.
On April 22, it was revealed that BTS’ lead single “Boy With Luv” featuring Halsey had debuted at No. 8 on while “Make It Right” had claimed at No. 95 on Billboard’s Hot 100, cementing the group as the first South Korean act to have two tracks simultaneously on the chart.
This marks “Boy With Luv” as the group’s highest-charting entry, and ultimately, the highest-charting single by a South Korean group on the Hot 100. Last year in May, BTS had first entered the Hot 100 chart’s top 10 with “Fake Love”. The track had debuted and peaked at No. 10, becoming the highest charting song for a South Korean group on the Hot 100 at the time.
Ultimately, this establishes BTS as the first South Korean group to have multiple songs to land within the Hot 100’s top 10.
The group is now also the second South Korean act overall to accomplish this feat after PSY. The soloist had peaked at No. 2 with his 2012 hit, “Gangnam Style”, and had charted No. 5 with “Gentleman” in 2013.
In Billboard interview published earlier this month, PSY had shared the following about the group.
The news comes after it had been announced that Map of the Soul: Persona had debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 album chart, marking BTS as the first group to have three consecutive #1 albums in the U.S. in less than a year since The Beatles in 1996. Overall, this comeback continues to be a testament to BTS’ position in the global pop culture scene.
